Beyond the drive

Auckland, 14 May 2026.  Mazda Motors of New Zealand today announces first local details for the all-new MAZDA CX-6e.

Blending Japanese philosophy, thoughtful design and cutting-edge technology, the all-new MAZDA CX-6e will arrive in New Zealand dealer showrooms towards the end of 2026.

The all-new MAZDA CX-6e is the latest addition to the expanding Mazda range of electrified models. This boldly styled mid-size SUV embodies the most artistic interpretation of our Kodo - Soul of Motion design language, striking the ideal balance between versatility, dynamism and craftsmanship. The CX-6e’s sleek silhouette and athletic proportions will appeal directly to drivers seeking individuality and distinction in a segment often marked by convention.

The New Zealand offer will see a single, highly equipped Takami grade along with a 78 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery that combines the best elements of terms of range, performance and charging times. The 78 kWh battery delivers a combined WLTP range of 468km, while 10 to 80 per cent charging on a 195 kW DC charger takes just 24 minutes. With a 190 kW power and 290 Nm torque output, the rear-wheel drive MAZDA CX-6e delivers responsive control and linear acceleration.

DESIGN

The MAZDA CX-6e elevates our Kodo - Soul of Motion design language into the future of electric mobility. Its bold ‘Soulful Futuristic Modern’ theme reflects the intersection of cutting-edge technology and sculptural elegance.

The face of the CX-6e features Mazda’s instantly recognisable signature wing, with its sequenced illumination when locking, unlocking and charging the car creating a strong three-dimensional visual effect.

The cleanly chiselled front end features aerodynamic vents that visualise the smooth airflow through the grille and over the sculpted bonnet to emphasize the car’s efficiency and performance. This feature is complemented by the slim shark-fin digital side mirrors and the air ducts located in the floating D-pillars that collectively ensure the MAZDA CX-6e glides efficiently and quietly through the air.

The MAZDA CX-6e’s long 2,902 mm wheelbase and short overhangs disguise its versatile load-carrying capabilities. The luggage bay – 468 litres expanding to 1,434 litres with the second row of seats folded flat – features a low loading lip and a regularly-shaped aperture to facilitate the loading large bulky objects. It is complemented by a convenient 83-litre frunk which is ideal for storing charging cables or overnight luggage.

A striking 21-inch alloy wheel with double five-spoke design is standard for New Zealand models.

For the interior, the MAZDA CX-6e cabin offers a calm and comfortable environment focused on serenity and wellbeing. This sense of space is enhanced by the illuminated wing-shaped strip that runs across the width of the dashboard and the full-length insulated glass sunroof that floods the cabin in natural light.

The interior is available in two distinctive colour variations: Maztex synthetic leather in either full black or an Oyster White and black combination in CX-6e Takami.

SMART COCKPIT

The smart cockpit centres on an ultra-wide 26-inch touchscreen that is mounted asymmetrically on the sweeping dashboard, reaching across the middle console and passenger side. Its customisable dual-split layout enables both the driver and the front passenger to access personalised information with minimal distraction.  This screen is complemented by a large driver’s head-up display that intuitively overlays navigation guidance directly onto the road ahead.

DIGITAL SIDE MIRRORS AND REAR-VIEW MIRROR

The CX-6e Takami is equipped with digital side mirrors and a digital rear-view mirror as standard. The digital side mirrors – the first fitted to a production Mazda – use compact exterior cameras that feed live video to the interior OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) displays mounted in the doors. As well as enhancing safety by delivering a 30% wider field of view, they offer enhanced levels of vision in low-light and adverse weather conditions and contribute to the MAZDA CX-6e’s range-extending aerodynamics. The digital rear-view mirror fitted to the MAZDA CX-6e features a 9-inch display with crisp, high-definition resolution. Drivers can switch between a traditional glass mirror and the digital mode, depending on preference or driving conditions. Whether tackling busy city streets or enjoying a long-distance drive, the seamlessly integrated technology in the MAZDA CX-6e cabin transforms every journey into a connected, comfortable, and visually rich experience.

Launching late 2026, pricing for the all-new MAZDA CX-6e is expected in the coming months.  Pre-sale activity has begun for the MAZDA CX-6e, with the Mazda dealer network now taking expressions of interest for the new model.
