Celebrating two decades of Zoom-Zoom, Mazda are excited to be releasing a special limited run 20th Anniversary Edition Mazda6 in New Zealand.
The Mazda6 20th Anniversary Edition celebrates a car that has continued to embody the Mazda spirit since its launch twenty years ago.
The first generation of Mazda6 also coincided with the launch of Zoom-Zoom for Mazda globally. It had outstanding dynamics making handling intuitive and had a sporty styling infused with a sense of vibrant movement.
Over the years, the Mazda6 has matured in tandem with the brand into a flagship for the current Mazda range, with Skyactiv technology, Jinba Ittai and Kodo design. The Mazda6 is a car that takes the fusion of sporty design and excellent dynamics to a whole new level, which has steadily grown in refinement and quality along with the Mazda brand.
Worldwide, the Mazda6 has won a plethora of awards and accolades from the motoring media. In New Zealand alone, the Mazda6 has won 20 awards including the ultimate New Zealand Car of the Year award.
The 20th Anniversary Edition commemorative model is the ultimate evolution of sportiness and elegance. Offered in both the Sedan and Wagon body styles, it features a number of special design elements to create a high-quality feel and a level of richness and dignity fitting for a 20 year celebration.
The 2.5L Turbo Engine has been refined, with improvements lifting power output to 173kW at 4,250pm. Peak torque remains a strong 420Nm at 2,000rpm, but torque at 4,250rpm has increased by 8Nm. The Skyactiv-Drive 6-speed automatic transmission has also been updated to provide a more direct upshift response and exciting driving feel, and the reactive force of the accelerator pedal has been increased to provide drivers with a more direct and intuitive connection to the engine’s torque.
Available exclusively in the latest Mazda Takuminuri body colour, Rhodium White metallic. Other exclusive design features include a new, high gloss silver for the aluminium wheels and grille mesh, finishing both of these elements in the same colour to give the entire exterior a luxurious look, along with a commemorative emblem on the exterior.
Mazda’s Takumi craftsmanship is on show inside where a tan colour palette accentuates the sophisticated cabin space, including luxurious amounts of high-quality Leganu® faux suede and nappa leather to give the entire cabin a rich, dignified feel. The front seat head rests are also embossed with the 20th anniversary logo adding a touch of extravagance and making the car feel even more special.
Other luxurious appointments include 11 speaker Bose® audio system, power operated heated and cooling front seats, wireless phone charging, 360o view monitor, glass power sliding and tilt sunroof, heated steering wheel and heated rear seats.
The five-star ANCAP safety rating is complemented with Mazda’s full suite of i-Activsense safety features such as Mazda’s AEB system – Smart City Brake Support (forward and reverse), Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear-Cross Traffic Alert, Dynamic Stability Control and Mazda’s exclusive G-Vectoring Control technology which uses engine timing to control chassis dynamics, for smoother more accurate steering inputs to provide a more enjoyable comfortable journey for everyone.

Mazda will also be funding five native NZ trees for every new Mazda model sold in conjunction with Trees That Count. Native trees not only sequester CO2 from the atmosphere, but they also provide thriving habitats for native birds, improve water quality in water ways, and provide beautiful places for future generations to explore. Every native tree planted in NZ helps to restore and enhance our environment, for biodiversity and for climate change.
