Riley Elliott

Adventurer, Shark specialist and quintessential ‘kiwi lad’.

Mazda New Zealand has jumped overboard with quintessential ‘kiwi lad’ and avid shark enthusiast, Riley Elliott - entering a partnership that will keep Riley moving on dry land.

Aptly titled ‘Shark Man’, there is more to Riley than someone who likes to swim with the planet’s most fearsome creature. He is on a quest to re-educate people, de-bunk myths and ultimately preserve his favourite fish.

Originally a keen surfer who studied zoology, Riley is now a shark scientist undertaking PhD research and campaigning for shark protection. All the while finding time to make TV shows, publish a book and attend an immense list of speaking and media engagements.

When Riley is not out on the water he covers a vast amount of the country, some locations remote and inaccessible, carrying an array of sports gear and professional equipment. Mazda have made this a breeze by putting Riley in a Mazda BT-50 4WD Double Cab Ute, which is hard to miss emblazoned with a Shark motif and ‘SHKMAN’ plates.
