Mazda Starts Production of All-New CX-5

First All-New Mazda CX-5 off the production line

21st December 2016

Mazda Motor Corporation started production of the all-new Mazda CX-5 crossover SUV yesterday in Hiroshima. The model will go on sale in Japan in February and be available in New Zealand in mid-2017.

The first-generation CX-5, production of which began in November 2011, was the first Mazda nameplate to feature the full range of SKYACTIV technology and KODO design. Cumulative production reached 1 million units in April 2015, making it the second fastest Mazda to reach the million-unit milestone after the Mazda3. Total production reached approximately 1.57 million units at the end of October this year.

Andrew Clearwater, Managing Director Mazda New Zealand believes the launch of the all new Mazda CX-5 will be eagerly anticipated by the New Zealand motoring public.

“The previous Mazda CX-5 set the standard for mid-size SUVs in New Zealand. We believe the all new CX-5 with its refined design, advanced technology and high quality finish will further enhance its position as the SUV that delivers a new dimension of driving pleasure for New Zealand motorists."
