Mazda Foundation injects some superstardom into its work by appointing kiwi icon Boh Runga as ambassador

The Mazda Foundation is set to take on a new design and artistic expression with Boh Runga joining the team as a brand ambassador.

The celebrated musician and jewellery designer is a dynamic creative force that makes her the perfect fit for the Mazda Foundation, whose work includes the provision of financial assistance to improve the awareness of New Zealand arts and culture.   

Building from  a music career that has seen international success with her multi award-winning band stellar* and a recent collaboration with Anika Moa & Hollie Smith, Boh has also established herself as a Kiwi fashion icon with her Boh Runga jewellery line.

Boh says she is proud to support the Mazda Foundation and is extremely honored to be an ambassador.

”They do so many wonderful and inspirational things for Kiwis. I’m blown away by the generosity and commitment that the Mazda Foundation has and can’t wait to get started on this incredible journey with them.”

The Mazda Foundation, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, was established to give back to local communities and has gifted over $2.2million since its inception. The Foundation is funded through contributions from the sale of every new Mazdaand three funding rounds are held each year selecting New Zealanders, community groups and charities that are in need of financial assistance.

Andrew Clearwater, Mazda Foundation Chairman and Mazda NZ Managing Director, says the Foundation is proud to have the international song writer and gifted designer on-board as an ambassador, and knows she is going to do a fantastic job.

“Boh is a New Zealander who has won hearts and minds not only here in Aotearoa but around the globe, she’s recognised here as a Kiwi icon and we are thrilled to be receiving her assistance with helping improve the lives of New Zealanders in need, we can’t wait to work with her.”

Runga was gifted the keys to a Mazda CX-5 complete with her own bespoke branding which expresses Boh’s design aesthetics and jewellery line through elements of her iconic feather motif.

“I’m in love with my Mazda CX-5! It’s awesome. Although I’ll have to be on my best behaviour when I’m out on the road because everyone will know it’s me!”

The closing date for the next round of Mazda Foundation applications is 30 September 2015.
