New-Generation Super Clean Diesel

As New Zealand’s first Mazda passenger car equipped with a new-generation diesel engine, the CX-5 also features the world’s lowest diesel engine compression ratio of 14.0:1. This helps CX-5 deliver a fuel economy from only 5.7 litre per 100 kilometres and super low emissions of 149 grams per kilometre of C02 – that’s comparable with many hybrid engines! Yet it still features the powerful torque and acceleration you’d expect from a diesel and dynamic performance you’d expect of Mazda.

The Soul of Design

The new look for the CX-5 has come from Mazda’s new KODO - Soul of Motion design concept. Signifying all the latent power and potential energy of a cheetah poised to leap into action, this is the first time KODO has been extended to a production vehicle. The aerodynamic design also works hand-in-hand with SKYACTIV Technologies in the vehicle’s chassis to bring about a lighter yet stronger bodywork and the associated savings in fuel consumption.

SKYACTIV Technologies

The CX-5 is the first model to feature the full range of SKYACTIV Technologies across all its grades. SKYACTIV is the name we have given our suite of innovations throughout the vehicle that combine to improve performance yet reduce fuel consumption and emissions at the same time. In a nutshell, these technologies are:

SKYACTIV-G (petrol) and SKYACTIV–D (diesel) – two completely redesigned engine platforms have brought astonishing results; class-leading output levels yet also with a fuel economy and low CO2 emission rate similar to what you’d expect from a much smaller vehicle.

SKYACTIV-BODY and -CHASSIS - entirely new lightweight yet highly rigid body structure elements that combine to optimise handling, stability and safety performance.

SKYACTIV-DRIVE - a redeveloped automatic transmission designed to conserve fuel yet also make accelerating easier across a range of conditions.

i-stop – an engine stop/start function designed to save fuel whilst the vehicle is not in motion

On the inside, the CX-5 has a spacious cabin, generous storage and high levels of functionality to cope with the demands of everyday life. And, with its 2,700mm wheelbase, it can easily accommodate 5 people in 5-star comfort, with class-leading rear legroom and boot space.

Super smart, super safe

As you’d expect from any new Mazda, the CX-5 has been awarded the maximum 5 stars from the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP). All the latest smart features are present in the CX-5 like; an integrated navigation system*, reversing camera and touch screen technology plus USB and Bluetooth™ connectivity. Safety is also well catered for with Front, Side and Curtain SRS airbags, 3-point seatbelts, Anti-lock Braking as well as Dynamic Stability Control and Traction Control to protect the wellbeing of those inside and outside of the vehicle. The Limited model also features even greater safety performance through new advanced technologies like Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), High-Beam Control (HBC), and Lane Departure Warning (LDW).
